Pre-Procedure
For optimal results, discontinue Retinol, chemical peels, laser treatments, and microneedling four weeks before your appointment. If you've used Accutane, wait one year after stopping.
Five days before your appointment, stop non-prescription blood thinners (like Aspirin and Advil; Tylenol is fine) and any age-defying products with acids.
Moisturize your lips and use lip scrubs three days prior.
Limit alcohol and caffeine (one cup is acceptable) and avoid tanning the day before.
If you've ever experienced cold sores, it's required to take Valtrex.
Healing
After your appointment, expect some swelling in your lips. Avoid extremely hot or cold beverages for the next few hours. Initially, the lip color will appear bold, similar to lipstick, and swelling will decrease within 48 hours. Over the following days, your lips may darken and begin to peel. Keep them moisturized and avoid picking or pulling at any dry skin, as patches may be large and should detach naturally for the best results.
Initially, your lips may look pale until the underlying tissue heals, with color blooming over the next eight weeks. At Cosmétique, your comfort and quality results are our priority. We provide post-procedure care, including written instructions, healing ointment, and a complimentary lip cooling pack to help reduce swelling.
Procedure
The Lip Blushing appointment begins with shaping and selecting a custom color to ensure symmetry based on your facial structure. A custom color is mixed to match the most pigmented hue of your lips. After client approval, numbing begins. The procedure lasts 2-4 hours with minimal discomfort, during which tiny colored pixels are implanted into the lip tissue using organic ink. This enhances the outer border and overall color, evens out discoloration, and improves the shape and volume of the lips.
Follow up
Lip Blushing is not a lipstick; it's a lip stain designed to enhance your natural lip color for a subtle look. This delicate process requires an additional appointment eight weeks after the initial session. If neutralization is needed, a third appointment may be necessary for optimal results.
